Join Penn Stainless Products and Dr. Metals for our free technical seminar on Stainless Steel products, technology and maintenance. Stainless steel surfaces should be clean, smooth, and free from heavy surface oxides and contamination to provide optimum performance. During fabrication, the surface can alter and degrade corrosion resistance properties. Fabrication can contaminate the surface with free iron and other deposits, damage the passive film through chromium depletion, and damage the surface mechanically. After fabrication, it is essential to restore the properties by appropriate techniques.
Participants will learn simple techniques to reduce the risk of corrosion during the fabrication process:
- Get the best out of stainless steel — maximize the unique properties using simple techniques
- The science behind stainless — why “Stain Less”?
- The impact of corrosion on society — understanding the inevitable
- Bring on the heat — stainless steels in high temperature applications
